Mission Statement

    SCAMFT is a division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy that was organized more than 25 years ago. SCAMFT members are a group of highly trained professionals who facilitate problem resolution and growth for families, couples, individuals and other social systems. SCAMFT members subscribe to a code of ethics and continuing education activities in order to responsibly remain on the cutting edge of clinical advances as well as societal changes. The evolving principles and practices of marriage and family therapy promote well-being by integrating diverse cultural, community and professional resources. (1997 revision)

    SCAMFT's activities and membership are dedicated to the promotion of the profession of marriage and family therapy and the advancement of practices and principles, which enhance the individual and family well being.

Name, Leadership and Bylaws

The name of this organization shall be the South Carolina for Marriage and Family Therapy (hereinafter referred to as the SCAMFT – A Division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (hereinafter referred to as the AAMFT)). SCAMFT is responsible to the duly elected Officers and Board of Directors of AAMFT and all rules and orders lawfully made there under. SCAMFT Bylaws shall be consistent with those of AAMFT and shall be approved by AAMFT before formal adoption by SCAMFT.
