Latest News on INCLUSION in the Medicare program

Your members of Congress have the potential to be key players in obtaining Medicare recognition for marriage and family therapists (MFTs). There are currently a host of bills floating around Capitol Hill focusing on reforming health care, in particular, modifying Medicare services. A bill in the House of Representatives (H.R. 3200) contains a provision (Section 1308) calling for the addition of MFTs as eligible Medicare providers, but currently there has yet to be a partner stipulation in the Senate. In order to keep our MFT provision in-play moving forward, we need your help!

By clicking on the following link, you will be connected to the AAMFT e-advocacy tool able to easily send off a message(s) to ANY/ALL of your members of Congress in support of MFTs in Medicare: http://capwiz.com/aamft/home/.  You can also contact the health aides of your members of Congress through the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, and ask to be connected to their D.C. offices.

Please know that this ground-level campaign is not asking members to agree upon and/or advocate for anything more than our MFTs in Medicare provision. By reaching out to Congress now, we can hopefully dispel misconceptions about family therapy “getting between the public and their marriages” and encourage additional legislative support before the final votes are cast!

Also, please report phone outreach and/or the need for AAMFT Government Affairs follow up with Congress at advocacy@aamft.org, or at (703) 838-9808.
